Two Die or To Die with Deck Analysis

Characters

Palpatine - Galactic Emperor: Though he is the highest costed single die character in the game, his damage effect is very consistent. Simply resolving Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's die deals two indirect damage to an opponent's character. Additionally, 15 health is very difficult to chew through before he becomes well outfitted with upgrades like Force Speed and Force Throw.

Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch: Her innate focus ability allows you to attain maximum effectiveness from Palpatine's die. Additionally, once outfitted with upgrades like Mind Probe or Force Lightning, she can deal plenty of damage herself.

Upgrades

Though 8/12 of the upgrades are even costed, they are incredibly consistent in their ability to deal damage. The damage upgrades all have a greater than 50% of hitting damage, with the potential for removal (Force Throw) and re-rolls (Force Lightning). Even with these event costed upgrades, the odds of being able to utilize Talzin's ability ranges from 68%-88% based on your mulligan.

Force Illusion: Besides Sith Holocron, no card is incredibly important in this deck. Thus, Force Illusion can be used to block large damage bursts.

Force Lightning: Even costed, but incredibly consistent die sides make this a must in this deck. This card also has great synergy with the ranged and special theme of the build.

Force Speed: When you play Force Speed on Palpatine - Galactic Emperor and activate him, you can use the force speed special to activate Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch, use her focus ability, and resolve Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's die against an opponent, which provides great burst potential mid-game.

Force Throw: Using an opponent's dice against them functions as both damage and mitigation and is incredibly effective against Hero Vehicles and other decks that have big dice.

Mind Probe: This card forces your opponent to drop cards as quickly as possible to avoid being hammered by five damage. Alternatively, it forces them to mitigate this die instead of one of Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's dice, which frees you to deal a similar amount of damage.

Sith Holocron: Allows you to play upgrades and roll them into your pool for only one resource. Though under threat from cards like Vandalize, this still can prove to be effective, especially if they don't draw into in the first two turns.

Battlefield

Maz's Castle - Takodana: The key cards in this deck are Force Speed and Sith Holocron, thus it is critical to draw into these in the first and second turn. As a result, Maz's Castle - Takodana is the logical choice as you can filter through your deck to find these cards. It also doesn't provide your opponent with much of a benefit should they claim before you.

Events

Deflect: One theme of this deck is using an opponent's dice against them. This card turns what might've been two or three damage for your opponent into one or two damage for you.

Endurance: As is to be expected, your opponent will mitigate Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's dice, thus this card allows you to roll it back into your pool.

Feel Your Anger: With many decks playing Chance Cube or multiple supports and upgrades, this card allows you to remove as many dice as there are showing blanks. In the past, I have removed upwards of four.

Frighten: This card helps to burst through shields, then gives you the opportunity to take an ambush action.

Isolation: Removing a character die can help break up larger damage combinations.

Mislead: Similar to Isolation, Mislead is included to break up larger damage combinations into smaller ones.

Overconfidence: With the potential to re-roll two of an opponent's dice, then remove one, this card is perfect for getting rid of frustrating specials or breaking up a modified and unmodified combination.

Rise Again: Sith Holocron allows you to save resources while playing upgrades, which frees you to spend your resources on mitigation and healing. Rise Again is excellent as it allows you to play an expensive upgrade from your discard pile and heal five damage.

Spell of Removal: As most cards in this deck are odd, this card provides you with the ability to remove any die of your choosing, without limitations like those on Isolation or Mislead.

Witch Magick: Once again, since most cards are odd, this card proves to be incredibly effective, with the statistical likelihood being two to three damage healed.

Strategy

On the mulligan, your goal is to get as many even costed cards, such as Force Speed, Sith Holocron, Mind Probe, and Force Lightning. The key component of this deck is Force Speed, which gives your opponent a very narrow window to mitigate Palpatine's die, and Sith Holocron, which allows you to spend your resources on mitigation as opposed to upgrades.

Your opponent will likely be tempted to try to defeat Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch first, thus gearing up Palpatine - Galactic Emperor quickly is your first priority. Playing Sith Holocron and Force Speed should direct your opponent's attention away from Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch, but regardless gets you going in the right direction. Once Palpatine - Galactic Emperor is outfitted with a Mind Probe or Force Lightning, he becomes nearly unstoppable. These upgrades coupled with the speed provided through Force Speed allows you to quickly burst and kill characters.

In a recent game I played against a Kylo Ren - Tormented One/Anakin Skywalker - Conflicted Apprentice deck, I dealt 14 damage in one action, killing Kylo Ren - Tormented One and putting Anakin Skywalker - Conflicted Apprentice at four health. I activated Palpatine - Galactic Emperor, resolved Force Speed, activated Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch, used her focus ability, then resolved a second Force Speed, her two damage die, Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's three damage side, Force Wave special, and Force Lightning two damage. At the time, I had included Force Wave, which I still think could be worth considering.

My last thought on this deck is that it may not be a tier one deck, but it is definitely fun to play and can beat tier one decks that are incapable of discarding Sith Holocron. Regardless, I think it is an admirable attempt at a competitive two die and two character destiny deck and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Maybe throw a Resilient or 2 in, since your deck isn't "odd number only" and Palpatine - Galactic Emperor die is crucial to be resolved no matter what you roll!! And since you are not guaranteed that Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch will hit her ability i think it's wise to have a backup plan while you also put pressure on your opponent since mitigation on Palpatine becomes rather useless! Maybe swap a Mind Probe for Resilient for a start and tell me how it goes!!

@iaturobi the one concern I had about Resilient is that it is not an ability thus can't be used with Sith Holocron. You are right though that having Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's die in play is crucial to the play strategy, thus I am updating the decklist to include two Resilients and removing one Force Lightning and one Endurance. This will decrease the probability of Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch's ability triggering by about 5%, but should provide greater consistency in being able to use Palpatine - Galactic Emperor's die.
