INTRO I think it's fair to say that following the EUROs, the eUnkar/FN/FO deck is a meta stable. It appears here, there and everywhere, and for good reason. The deck is incredibly durable. It's solid in its control elements and has mid to high damage output. It can be incredibly resilient, while at the same time dishing out tonnes of damage - I like it!

After having run Vader/Raider for quite some time, I was ready to pilot a new deck for the SC season, with at least 4 Store Championships to attend. Having looked through the EURO winner deck, and played it unaltered for some 10+ games, I decided on a few changes that suited my playstyle somewhat better.

First off, it seemed a bit like a one-trick pony, and I needed a bit more control, and on top of that add another possible win-condition, other than bludgeoning your opponent into the ground. In comes Crime Lord. Is there really any more satisfying way of defeating your opponent's character than crime lording them? Not in my book.

IMPROVING THE DECK I also felt the deck was particular weak against decks with one strong character throwing awesome dice at you, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Poe Dameron, Palpatine etc. all come to mind. These are all archetype characters that merely by virtue of their strong character dice can take down an entire list on their own. How to defend against that, while at the same time strenghtening your own boardstate for the endgame? Prized Possession!

Now, normally the problem with Prized Possession and Crime Lord is their ridiculous cost. 4 for both and another 5 to make Crime Lord go off. In most decks this would be impossible, but not with Unkar. He just makes an absurd amount of money. ABSURD amount of .

HOW TO PLAY THE DECK: When piloting this deck, start out slow, and mulligan carefully. Dig for your Imperial Inspection and Salvage Stand. If facing a 2 character list with a single powerful character and a support character, mulligan for Prized Possession to stiffle the impact of that character in the game. Taking one of the two dice of Palpatine is almost a certain win, removing a dice from Han or Poe or Vader will really put you ahead.

In my SC semi-final (best of 3) against eHan/eRey, in both games it was Prized Possession that made it possible to slow down my opponent enough to allow me time to take care of Rey before turning my attention to a one-die Han, who is not really a match for a fully tooled up FN or Unkar. Whoever is not the main target of your opponent will equip the prized possession.

If Unkar is the main target for your opponent, which he should be, load up FN, using Unkar's ability to generate resources, use Friends in Low Places to check out your opponent's hand or simply take the 3 resources from Unkar's dice (+2). If FN is the target concentrate on redeployable weapons, Gaffi Stick, Holdout Blaster and Z6 Riot Control Baton. Don't just overwrite carelessly - think about the rounds to follow.

The deck doesn't offer an extreme amount of control (8 cards), yet has enough to keep your opponent at bay until you are ready for the last high damage rounds. The Best Defense... goes a long way to keep both Unkar and FN alive, while the First Order Stormtrooper in most games becomes reduced to somewhat a utility to reaching your win-condition.

Sadly enough, I ended up losing the final of the SC against a well-played eKylo/eVader deck.
