Hutt Cartel Wrocław - Bert 119

This deck allowed me to go 5:2 on first day of Polish Nationals and ended at 10th place with 87 players on tournament. Unfortunetaly i was defeated by my oponent in first match of Top16, by eSnoke/Aphra/Droid with score 1/2. However if deck went that far it means it has something in it that made the top cut against all of the players, who wanted to beat me every single game.

So how does this deck work you might ask? It's pretty simple, you hit as many indirects in opponent face with 0-0-0 and then finish one of opponent characters, by regular dmg or even Relentless Pursuit to roll both Executioner into the pool for another damage. The funniest part with this deck is that dealing indirect to myself does not only hit opponent back with 0-0-0, but also due to Doctor Aphra - Artifact Hunter 2nd ability it also allows you to draw a card - which means easier to get the combo out.

There are tons of cards that makes your combo relevant:

  • BT-1 - this bad boy makes 2 indirects into opponent face while activating. And the funniest part is that there is one part that is missed a lot of times - it is 2 sources of indirect so opponent can only block 1 with force illusion. You have to know this while playing this deck!
  • Climate Disruption Array - this is weird card as it deals 2 (or 3 dmg when combo is up) without using anything but action so it is totaly not roll dependend
  • By Any Means - Sweet removal that destroys big die, but also hit opponent in da face!
  • Crash Landing - This is weird removal but it is good, it can stop opponent to use Snoke Power action so many times, when opponent Battle Droid showed 1 indirect, to avoid 2 additional dmg. Did i mention that it also deals dmg to opponent and gets you a card? ;)
  • Dangerous Maneuver - This card is weird, if you don't have Bubble Shield it feels like a waste, but it is still 1 indirect to opponent and a card draw so it stays here anyway ;)

However as we all know every deck has it's cons and pros... This particular build so much push your luck that it can die from doing indirects to yourself. Ofc many times it might win you games, but there are times when you wish you didn't do this indirect to yourself :p That's why i had to include few cards to allow me to stay alive a little bit more. Bubble Shield Is the only hard healing factor in this deck, which allows you to put those indirects somewhere else than on your characters. Also it makes Dangerous Maneuver darn sweet. With Docking Bay - Finalizer you can even rotate this supports back into the pool, so there are times when it's better to claim early to avoid more damage in the next rounds so #BeSmart. Of course you also have shield sides on Doctor Aphra which is sweet addition to stay alive.

Second issue with this deck is the money usage. All of your dice have paid side so you have to think twice if you for sure want to reroll the resource on Executioner, that's why i included Reprogram, which allows you to play both droids on the first turn which is daaarn sweet.

Now lets move to the weird cards addition: -Slave I - this card rarely see it's time on table, but when it hits... oh my, there are many 2 value sides on Aphra so it is 50% chance to remove good side on opponent side with Power Action. Also it's die is not that bad. But to be honest i am still thinking to replace this card with something else. like Sebulba's Podracer.

  • First Strike - This card seems bad on a paper, but if you see something with 3 damage side that allows you kill one of opponent character and roll both Executioner feels good. Also the fun part is that many times i used it before i activated those characters and opponent get confused and they forgot that i did not activate them yet and they give me free actions when they claim. Always make sure to check the state of the board and do not assume anything, while you are facing such decks.
  • Relentless Pursuit - this one is pretty straight forward, move 2 damage that they dealt to themself with indirects and kill the character. that is near death. All of opponents do not want to take all the indirects into one character because of the Executioner special rule, so it is easy to move 2 damage between them ;)
  • Rend This card i almost include in every deck now at least 1 copy. There are way too many 0 cards that are played so much. It allows to stop the Tacos combo with Chance Cube or even stop the Sith Holocron or Force Speed. So it is always awesome to have.

The cards i consider replacing in this deck:

  • Emulate - it makes your rolls less luck depended so it is always good. Most of people just attack Aphra, so you have few actions to use this.
  • Sebulba's Podracer - it is card i think i want to replace the Slave I, whatever you resolve on this podracer you can add one more indirect, and every additional damage is good right? ;)
  • No Survivors - This is fun in this particular deck, as each of your opponent will split the damage so basicaly this card is ready to roll pretty early, and for 1 resource you deal 3 more damage (or 2 if you are unlucky)

2 of my matches were on stream and i found one on Tricity team - Destiny Squad, hope it will show at least somehow the way i piloted the deck :) https://youtu.be/CQSG4YBneas?t=1033

I hope it wasn't too long and i double dare you to test this deck at least once, it might be a fine addition into your collection!

Thanks for posting this! I'm planning to play it at Australian Nationals. I'm 4-0 with my version on TTS at the moment. How often did you play Probe and Rend? Emulate is definitely worth including. Congratulations on making it all the way to top 16!

Rend is a card used mostly against Tacos to avoid the Chance Cube rotation, but if you are lucky then you won't use it, but the option to have it is always nice.

Probe Is way too good card to miss, it many times give me only benefits and i used it many times. When you see enemy played their upgrade/ support then you hit this as probably you'll get lucky and hit 2 events which is not only able to discard the removal cards, but also to waste opponent 2 rerolls.

Emulate Is sweet, but i wanted to have more removal cards and that's why it was moved on. Also As i mentioned probably you shall swap the Slave I with Sebulba's Podracer.

Would you consider including Imperial HQ for all the resource costs? Or even a Truce?

Yeah that's also not a bad cards to include, but there is always an issue with 30 card slots ;)in the end i just learned to not always go for damage and pick some money if needed as i included more removals instead of money generator
