It seems odd to me that people haven't tried harder to get Profitable Connection with Palpatine - Unlimited Power.

As many people have rightly pointed out, the second Palpatine die is both expensive and arguably unnecessary. What makes Palp good is his unlimited abilities and extra health, and his second die doesn't really contribute to it.

The question is what to do with the extra four points? I've seen people run Lightsaber Mastery builds, and I've seen people use Blockade, but to me it makes the most sense to run Profitable Connection. Guaranteed, unmitigated 3 resources round one means you're one resource or Forbidden Lore away from a round-one Force Storm, which, despite what you may have heard, is still really good.

And it's even better with special chaining. Enter Arihnda Pryce - Unscrupulous Governor. We've all agreed that you want to pair Palp with red, she's a red leader, which gives us that wonderful Counterintelligence, while red nets you great upgrades like Mastermind and Weapon Master (which yes, is great in this deck), and you also get some great meta tech like Bubble Shield (f--- Ewoks) and Separatist Embargo (f--- whatever you want).

This build has proven very destructive and, as Palp always is, very survivable. You run 1 Protective Suit alongside the embargo. These should stop those devastating downgrades and/or be able to slow down decks that you know don't use downgrades.

I think you can probably afford to sacrifice one of another upgrade to get a second Niman Mastery, because that's really good. The dream play is of course chaining to both the Force Storm special and the Arihnda Special. Even if Storm is only loaded up at 2 at that point, you've guaranteed 4 extra damage on the round.

Otherwise this is pretty much red palp, just with a bit more consistency to his ramp.

Wat Tambor - Techno Union Foreman is of course still an option for this build, but you both sacrifice a health and waste a character point, so I dunno. I do think profitable is the right call, though. Having played the standard eWat/ePalp build, it feels really bad to either not hit resource or get your resource dice mitigated and then only have two resources to try to ramp. This version avoids those lows.

It might be worth swapping Way of the Force for a three cost weapon, maybe Vader's Saber, to get a little more use out of Weapon Master besides just giving an extra health. I think that a die like Vader's Saber is a much better value for 3 than an extra Palp die, especially if you get Weapon master as well.

How about Admiral? Always worth reactivaring Palpatine

@Purp1ePenguin I actually like a Palp's Die way better than I like a Vader's Saber. Too many modified sides on the Vader's Saber, plus Palp has that sweet double-focus. Also, Way of the Force is an ability, so you get the extra Palp die and an extra health.

Weapon Master is still great with Palp's Saber, not just for the free focus. But the fact that Palp's Saber gives you money back for a zero-cost ability is pretty huge. You play the Palp's Saber spending two and if you have one weapon master, it gives you one back. On round one, that means you will still have two resources to play down more upgrades.

@qroga I'm kind of torn on Admiral. I of course see the huge potential, but it not being an ability makes it hugely awkward in Palpatine. It doesn't boost his health, and it doesn't work with his Power Action. I've seen players rush an early Admiral, and it's just no good.

Ideally, you hit admiral on round two (after a good round one) or round three to seal the deal, maybe even overwriting to get the instant reset. I like that play, and it's probably worth it to include as a one-of, but because it doesn't give you the obvious benefits of something like a Force Storm, you really don't want to see it early, so I wouldn't run two of it in the deck.

Just my thoughts.
