I have been practising with Andrews "Raid Boss" Vader since I first saw it, as I must admit I didn't even consider Friends in High Places. It's a master stroke! After practising it I made some slight alterations to suit my play style. I added another Bait and Switch and changed Treasured Lightsaber for Ancient Lightsaber, as it has some extra mill protection, and more sides with value to help Friends in High Places.

Here's the breakdown of the Alpha games regional. There were 22 players, and looking around I saw a fair few Vader/Greedos around.

First round - Store Champs bye

Second Round - vs Tarkin - Grand Moff/Snoke - Supreme Leader This was a close game, but Vader really hits hard, and I targeted Tarkin first. By the end Greedo was dead and Vader had 2 hit points left. A deck to watch I feel, especially after rotation.

Third round - Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight/Yoda - Wizened Master I was surprised to see OG Luke, but I had heard he had beaten a Vader/Greedo earlier in the day, so I went into the match taking it seriously. Unfortunately for my opponent Vader was having none of it and killed Yoda turn one. After that Luke was left hanging as I mitigated his dice and ground him to paste.

Fourth round - Darth Vader - Terror To Behold/Greedo - Unlucky Mercenary The dreaded mirror match. My opponent was a 10 year old lad, and he meant business. At the end of round 2 when he claimed my Greedo had 4 damage and my Vader had 2 health left. I had done a total of 1 damage to his Vader, and had a single blank Vader die in the pool, and had played Vader's Fist with 3 ranged. I resolved the 3, powered actioned in to 3, and rolled into 3 again, for 9 damage. I power actioned Maul's Lightsaber back in for 2 melee, then re-rolled Vader into lethal, killing his Vader. A crazy match!

Fifth round - Another mirror A quick and deadly match that saw my Vader defeat the imposter.

I've done it, 5-0 and top of swiss!

My top 8 match - Leia Organa - Heart of the Resistance/Yoda - Wizened Master I was a bit worried about this match up, but both games he never really got going, and they were over quickly. 2-0 to me.

Top 4 - Doctor Aphra - Artifact Hunter/Ciena Ree - Adept Pilot/Nute Gunray - Separatist Viceroy Another quick 2-0 result to me where my opponent never really got into his groove.

Final - Mirror match with the 10 year old again! Amazing for such a young lad to get into the final. It was lose/lose for me. Either I lose to a 10 year old, or smash a 10 year old's dreams. I won the first game, after it initially looked bad for me. Second game I killed his Vader and Greedo in 1 resolution, but his Greedo rolled out and took the last 2 health of my Vader giving him the win! My only loss of the day and what a loss! The third match was a bit one sided and was a win to me.

I know people may be fed up of Vader now, but I had a blast with this deck, and feel I really understood how to get the most out of it.

Well done, Rob. You played great. Although Lewis is still threatening to call Child Line! :-)

@HarveyFamily Lewis should be immensely proud. Out of all the players there he was the only one I lost a game to, not to the mention that he is a regional finalist at only 10! Imagine where he'll be in a few years!
