For about a month now I have gotten lots of blank looks as I piloted this deck to a few LGS tournament wins, but a really ice cold showing at the San Diego Regional.

Right after the point balance was announced on Snoke - Supreme Leader, I knew something had to give on the meta, and I felt like General Hux - Aspiring Commander could be sneakily good if he was put into a deck the right way – and I went to work on it.

Immediately I knew that I wanted the deck to take advantage of Imperial Backing and Mobilize, cards that would help me to get a turn one Firespray-31 or even Vader's Fist, and sometimes even multiple copies of said card. But how to guarantee this was the question. Pairing Hux with Bala-Tik - Gang Leader and Dark Advisor, two cards with a focus side, would help to do the trick. My pre-Regionals build included two Bait and Switch to help with the effect – but they were ditched for Friends in Low Places, in an effort to remove The Price of Failure in a matchup with Darth Vader - Terror To Behold. The irony there was that I was so ready for Vader, and didn't even encounter one in San Diego.

What You Are Hard Milling For: Imperial Backing, Mobilize, Chance Cube and a vehicle to cheat out.

Ideal Starting Hand Chance Cube, Mobilize, Firespray-31, Triple Laser Turretand Darth Vader's TIE Advanced – Get the money for seven additional resources, and play your whole hand.

The Separatist Landing Craft is annoying as at the end of the game one can almost always get one or two Battle Droids out, giving you 6-12 extra health.

Warning though, this deck when gone cold is ICE COLD. It went 1-5 at the San Diego Regional after my first-round bye.

What I Would Change I'd revert my change of Bait and Switch for Friends in Low Places, definitely would put two Count Dooku's Solar Sailer and only one Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, which I felt I needed to power through Darth Vader - Terror To Behold. And I would have prayed for much better luck. I had a Dark Ritual in the early build as well, but rarely used it; although, it would have prolonged this tanky deck further.

All in all though, a very fun deck when it works. It generates a lot of money , so spend it wisely.

Back to the drawing board for Fresno! Until next time!
