Took this deck to the Store Championships at Gaming on Grand in Escondido, CA on 7/30/18.

I really wanted to run this deck ever since I saw RJM's version of it on here. I have had success with Tarkin/Aphra in Trilogies and have been wanting to find a way to make Tarkin - Grand Moff work in Standard. So all the credit goes to RJM for the deck in the first place. The nice thing is the deck plays very consistently once you get the hang of it. The constant high amounts of Indirect Damage can overwhelm your opponents before they can finish off your characters.

Now like any deck this not a plug and play deck. I decided literally at 12am Friday night to grow a pair and play it after playing one game with on TTS beating Thrawn - Master Strategist/Snoke - Supreme Leader. It was the only time all week I had beat Thrawn so I took it as a sign. I took the deck the next day to At Ease Games Store Champs on Saturday and went 2-3. I just didn't have a feel for the deck and played some great opponents. You could call this my testing period if you will. After rehashing the day and what I could do better I decided to try it one more time on Sunday at Gaming on Grands Store Champs.

Now I can't remember all of my games exactly, I was fried from the day before and some of my games were against opponents from the day prior.

My Round 1 game was one of them vs a player who only plays mill. I won and chose his battlefield so that he couldn't have shields. He usually can chage it anyway between New Ordersand Hyperspace Jump. Between getting my Force Wave out first turn and the sheer amount of indirect damage was to much for a his deck. HeHis hero mill deck still removed all the cards from my deck but I still had three in hand. I Tactical Mastery to start the turn rolling out Snoke who finished off the game. 1-0

Round 2 was against eKylo/ePryce and I got a little lucky. First turn he completely forgot to use Kylo's ability and he missed the next two rounds which was a 1 in 4 chance each time. Indirect piled on with Tarkins PA and Snoking Tarkin's 2 Indirect side. 2-0

Round 3 was vs a eRex/Clone/Hired/Gun deck. It was different than what I was used to which was a fast Rex/CLone/Maz deck. I feel like I got what I needed to win but my opponent did a great job of mitigating the dice I needed especially making sure that I never got off a Force Wave Special. He played a great game and and had a sneaky Claim of Rift Valley - Dathomir that I think was the game changer in the match. First loss of the day. 2-1

Round 4 was hero vehicles with little Ezra, eHera, and Wedge. I got a few cheap upgrades out first turn and a Force Wave out by 2nd. I think the game started to go in my favor when I got to Snoke Tarkin's 2 discard side for plus 2 removing the 4 cards in his hand. That can be absolutely devastating to a vehicles deck because it kills their ramp. I also got a lot of Force Speed specials that allowed me to do some fun focus shene In the end Force Wave and Indirect won the game as usual. 3-1

Round 5 Was against another hero mill player. Again I chose his battlefield and just put out as much damage as possible with a clutch All Inplay that helped put me over the top. Again I had no cards left in my deck when at the end of the match. 4-1

Semi-Finals I am the second seed and for some reason have to play the first seed who was running Kylo/Snoke with a Sith Holocron package. My opponent is a very good player who ran the event I was at the day before, great job btw, and already had won a store champs so I knew I was in for a battle. It was a great game but tbh I got a good ramp going early and sadly for him he still had no upgrades out by turn 2. It doesn't matter how good of player you are there is no way to win when you can't get any damage going. Great opponent who also never complained once about his bad luck.

Finals So the dream happens. My buddy who I drove down with ends being my opponent in the Finals! I was already riding high that we both made top 4 but to play each other is just the coolest thing ever. We decided that since we both have had a long weekend and a long drive back we will only play 1 game. He is playing Rex/Clone/Maz and I know his deck very well and he doesn't know mine as much. I got my Force Wave out on Snoke and got on top of him early. He was going after Snoke but I had killed Clone and Maz and had Rex half dead. He killed Snoke and it was up to Tarkin with only a Chance Cube. Rex had 2 health and a shield left and this is where I made a mistake. I get Dark Ritual off to bring back Snoke with a 2 Indirect showing on Tarkin which I should have Snoke'd to win the game for 4 damage but I just didn't see the play. Two turns latter a loaded out Rex finishes me off. It was an absolutely awesome game and still felt great because my friend won.

All in all it was a great weekend and the stores I played at in the San Diego put on great events. Congrats to my buddy and testing partner for his win on Sunday and his top 4 finish the day before. Also I want to thank Hotel Alex for the 4 star accommodations! Lastly I have to thank Agent of Zion for the random games we played on TTS the night before and for being a great guy to talk to about the game even though we had never met... well until we both ended up being at the same SC the next day. haha!

A couple things I need say about my deck. I know that this is not the most ideal version of the deck. I was very far from home and forgot a couple cards that were important and also I didn't have access to Z6 Riot Control Baton. So here is what I would change:

Remove 2 Heirloom Lightsaber for DH-17 Blaster Pistol, they are cheap cost and having more dice for Tarkin is always best.

A second Force Push seems like the right play. All 5 of its sides are good. Even if you don't have something to Special you can Tarkin it.

A second All In needs to be in this deck and replaces The Force Is With Me. The only reason it isn't is due to me forgetting mine at home, wah wah waaaah...

I hope people find this write up helpful and give this deck a go!

Great, write up, thanks for sharing. And appreciate the props on the inspiration!

@RJM Of course and thank you! The moment I saw your deck I knew I wanted to run it.

So what slots would Z6 Riot Control Baton take if you had them?

@Villain Hotel Alex is always open to champs like you too! Glad you guys could make it and shake up the local scene!

RJM 121

@lev The force powers, pretty much. Having the 4x redeploys with 3 base melee damage sides each is very important to being able to push lethal damage through on a single character.

I like this list a lot man

Villain 121

@SillyJedi It is a lot of fun to play as well. It also catches people off guard.

How good is Witch Magick here? Building your entire deck with major restrictions for two cards seems harsh. Would it not be better to play Ancient Lightsaber and 0 cost removal?

Villain 121

@_Graves it's really strong but you might be right that there is a different deck that features Ancient Lightsaber#anc and cards like Hidden Motive#hidd etc. I will have to look into it.
