Update:

I took this deck to another tournament also on 2018-03-01. This time the tournament had 5 swiss rounds best-of-one and then final battle with two best contestants. I went 4-1 in swiss, losing only to eObi-Wan/eMaz deck with just one action short. The Obi/Maz deck was constructed and piloted by my friend who is a great Destiny player who played Tarkin/Rebel Traitor/Rebel Traitor in previous tournament. For the final I was the only runner up and we concluded the final and deciding battle which was again a very close game but this time I was able to win it. Thus I ended up winning the tournament even though our scores were both 5-1.

I also made small changes this time, now having couple of usable cards from Legacies and 2 player game:

I also considered Resilient, but it did not play as well as I expected it would as it takes one upgrade slot away, costs 2 and might not even find usage in all turns. I found that Endurance is much better option for adding back a removed Palp die.

Original tournament report from 2018-02-22:

Introduction

The name is derived from the fact that the deck is using cards only from the black themed boxes (ie Awakenings cycle) even though the new white clothes (two player game, Legacies) have been out for some time now. For some reason I haven`t gotten around buying the two player game yet and I'm only ten booster packs in on Legacies (no plots so far, or I would have added one).

Organized play is just starting in Tallinn, Estonia and so far we have very few players - this was the second ever organized event to take place in our country.

The tournament was organised in "best of three" matches against each opponent for three rounds and then points totalled up. Only problem was that the time limit was only 66 minutes. So any 1-1 match would not have time to play the full third game.

First round: Phasma2/Grievous/Bala-Tik supports deck

This was the easiest matchup as the deck had obviously too few dice cards in it and strangely not that much mitigation either. Seemed it was built off from very limited collection. I realised only later that it was an illegal deck (Phasma costing one extra now) but since this deck did not do well and we had quite relaxed event I guess it didn´t matter. Both games were easy wins: 2-0

Second round: eKylo2/eMother

This was the toughest matchup - Mother's ability coupled with well constructed deck and Kylo`s ability hitting my mono blue deck hard meant I barely hanged on there. In the first game I went after Kylo first and it came down to me being with three shields on Palpatine and 2 hp left while Mother had about 4-5hp left. My opponent played Frighten and then resolved the 2 he had still on the table and took the win. In second game I still went after Kylo and luckily dodged his ability once with Endurance in my hand. The game lasted quite long and I managed to finish off Mother when I still had only about 3 health left. So a 1-1 match so far. We started the third game knowing we could only play one round and Palpatine had an edge by dealing more damage - I hard mulliganed for Endurance and Indomitable but got none. Luckily got some mitigation cards instead and none of my dice were removed. I scored a win: 2-1

Third round: Tarkin/Rebel Traitor/Rebel Traitor

I feared this matchup the most actually - since it was against my friend who has lately beaten me a lot with his nasty decks. Also since his deck seemed to be focused on indirect damage I was not too hopeful. But alas I rolled well and he seemed not to play that much mitigation as he usually does (or just did not draw it) and the few times he removed my dice, Endurance usually helped me out. In the first game I did not pull any upgrades in the first round (but managed a 2 and a 3 sides after some reroll) and in the second round I was not able to play upgrades before activating because Rebel Traitor irritated my Palpatine to act right away, so I just rolled natural 2x 3 as a revenge. From there on it went quite easily, healed myself with Rise Again at some point and piloted myself to a win. Second game I was able to mulligan into 2x Sith Holocron, Force Lightning, Force Speed and Doubt. So a great start with lot of dice on the table from my side. Dodged the damage this time by playing 2x Indomitable and dealt a lot of damage from Palpatine and Holocroned Force Lightning. Soon added Mind Probe via Holocron and often discarded 3-4 cards away from my friends hand to clear my way to victory: 2-0

Final notes

The general idea for upgrades to mulligan for is obviously Holocron suite and Force Speed, but second best option is actually Lure of Power - I have found it to work really well in this deck - any side is good for Palpatine to resolve (occasionally shield sides are not good if you are playing Indomitable and opponent delays their attack). Endurance helps well against mitigation so if possible I try to keep a resource handy when I have it in hand. Sometimes it´s a tough decision between keeping resources for Rise Again or spending them for Endurance and/or some mitigation cards. Use The Force is a great card since it can work as a mitigation card or fixing your own dice to those nice 3 sides.

Possible changes: I have included It Binds All Things for backup when Holocron setup fails but consider cutting it for some Legacies cards - Resilient is the one I´m thinking about. From two player game I would probably include Sound The Alarm (replacing Isolation for example). I have only once copy of Force speed, Force Push and Force Illusion included simply because I dont have a second copy of those cards so maybe at least a second Force Illusion would be nice to add here since it´s also playable via Holocron (and does not require a resource to start working right away). From the plots I would rather add Stolen Intel than Fortify because one extra card gives you more consistency for Holocron setup and using Fortify along with Indomitable (and perhaps getting a 2 shiled start) would weaken Palpatine´s shield sides even more.
