I didn't have time to do a write-up and strategy article yet, but will do so when I have a minute. Since so many people pm'd me for the list, I didn't want to delay posting it! I am sure it's not rocket science to most, although maybe there are a few surprises people will like.

Thanks for posting! Will add this to our gauntlet for Regionals prep. Hope to see you in there :)

Interesting to note how few redeploy upgrades are in there, and also how many anti-ranged events (2x Deflect and 1x Dodge).

Without any resource ramp cards like It Binds All Things or Reaping the Crystal, did you find that you were short on resources?

elrathion 704

@smerleyeah I definitely should make it ;) The pressure is less now since I got my ticket to worlds secured.

elrathion 704

@Ira I have played the deck a lot and there are a lot of versions to be chosen for sure. The choice of what I do depends entirely on the match-up. I included a lot of removal and ranged hate because those are the most difficult match-ups and I expected them to be very prevalent at Pax. I would never run It Binds all things in this deck and as far as Reaping I only run 3 3 cost weapons so it would be a total waste as well. My older versions of the deck ran a lot more 3 costs making it interesting. I never got to use dodge during GQ, but I did get several dodges off during pods and got me wins where I would have lost ;) I think it was a good meta call overall.

@elrathion did you consider Destiny? Also, I really like this comment: "The choice of what I do depends entirely on the match-up." I think that's an important aspect of deckbuilding - you don't expect to play all your cards, but you want your deck to give you options when you're actually playing the game. With the mulligan rules, it's like you have a little mini-sideboard right at the start of the game. Against a range deck, you might keep Deflect/Dodge in opening hand, but obviously against a melee deck you'll put it back in your deck. I think that aspect of deckbuilding can be explored more.

@elrathionCongrats on the results! May I ask why you decided not to use Fearless and Luke's Protection?

elrathion 704

@FeCaprino I've tested for the longest time with the Fearless/Luke's Protection suite. At the end of the day I found it too slow. Fearless doesn't hold the same power a shoto/ancient has in my book and would only ever be my third upgrade. I have however closed out games or won games due to starting with things like Jedi Robes, which has become my new favorite ramp include. I brought it as my sideboard to test but couldn't justify cutting anything for it.

elrathion 704

@Ira sure have! I lit had a sideboard of like 20 cards I could see in the deck and have spent the last three weeks carefully weighing each card. Destiny can be amazing, but I found myself having a hard time getting it go off when I needed it. It probably would be the best ramp card out of the three proposed though.Overall, I felt in a pretty good spot each game resource wise past round one which is always a bit more of a struggle.

I really believe most games are won through deckbuilding. I love to include tournament winner cards. Things like FLIP, Dodge, Feel Your Anger, even if you only get it once, can just win you a game. That's why I think they are crucial to consider in a deck based on your knowledge of what your harder match-ups are and what you expect to face.

I have personaly removed riposte all together sence keeping qui gon aive is the key for the deck in my experince. i wonder about 3 cards the impact u tought they gave?, Force Misdiraction- Personaly i find it very hard to use it maybe im bad or it just dosnt time well for me, did u use it alot? Willpower was that vital or something u could cut, last Handcrafted lightbow is it worth it or does the character u put it on just get targeted to hard.

FeCaprino 112

@elrathion thanks! EaW has not arrived in Brazil yet, but I'm very excited to play this deck. I've tested some on TTS, found both cards to be good, but also slow, as you pointed. Did most people focus Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master or Kanan Jarrus - Rebel Jedi first? What do you think is the correct decision?

elrathion 704

@Adam4lmighty The key is rolling out Kanan first and keeping initiative vs certain matchups. With his focus you can easily get to whatever side you need to misdirect, and can get it off a lot of games. Quigon is a fine choice if you play vs melee, but more telegraphed, obviously.

As far as Willpower goes, I love survivability, which is why you also see things like Robes and Illusions in the deck. The longer you can keep QuiGon in the game, the more chance you get him to ramp status and make him wreck face.

Handcrafted lightbow isn't even a negotiotable one to me. That special is so strong it's absurd, and it has 2 other great sides for misdirects as well. It's by far the best 3 cost weapon for blue, except maybe Rey's lightsaber.

The lightbow goes down on Kanan 99% of the games. If they want to waste their time w Kanan, I'm all good w that ;)

elrathion 704

@FeCaprino Sorry to hear about your product delays, Artificery is trying to help, you should hit us up if you haven't already, we have been trying to assist some people from Brazil and other countries with a big bulk shipping.

90% of the time Kanan is the wrong target, probably 100% of the time actually ;) I have seen a lot of people get discouraged after seeing shields and illusion and focus their energy on Kanan, but to be realistic once QuiGon hits critical mass with his upgrades, he will close the game.

I recall one of my games vs Palp where my opponent had a choice to deal 5 damage post shields to QuiGon or kill Kanan with 8 and he dumped 8 into Kanan. As a result I won what should have been an unwinnable game. It's little mistakes like that which have the biggest impact.

NightBring3R 199

@elrathion same as with guard ofc, mostly find the 1 cost to be a little akward but il keep that in mine, I love suruvabilty to, Rejuvante over Willpower just to get taht 0 cost whats your thought there? Soudsn really smart btw with handcrafted on kannan idd if people goes for him game is almost won :)

FeCaprino 112

@elrathionthnks again for sharing! QGJ feels like a monster if he ever gets to hit critical mass, as you said ;) Is there any card you feel could get swapped out from the list, even after going 6-0 on the event?

About the delay, I've been trying to stay patient and do as much as possible to keep the game rolling while we don't get the knew stuff. Our distributor has spoken out and admitted there is a problem, let's hope they get it fixed for the next set.

Schattenriss 1

@elrathion what do you think about „it binds all things“ in your deck?

elrathion 704

@Schattenrisstoo slow ;)

elrathion 704

@Adam4lmightywillpower also does unblockable damage, which is super relevant.

akujiki87 1

@elrathion Since I cannot justify the purchase cost for two Ancient Lightsabers, what would you consider swapping them for?

SirToastsalot 19

How about funeral pyre for when quigon goes down to help keep kanan at a decent power level, especially if he can move a Rey's saber and a photo or ancient over?
